To My Blogging Family

I would like to dedicate this post to my amazing and wonderful blogging friends. When I first started blogging, I never imagined I would love it as much as I do. I basically started my blog on a whim…not really knowing where I was going with it or what I wanted it to become. All I knew was that I loved writing, and to be honest that was enough.

After a while, something magnificent began to happen. I began to visit other blogs and it opened up my eyes to so many things. I began to enjoy reading other people’s blogs much more than I liked writing my own. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing and posting, but the thing I look forward to every day is checking my friend’s blogs and reading their stories and journeys.

Through blogging, I have been fortunate enough to develop correspondence with people from all across the world. It’s truly such a wonderful thing. I’ve also been awakened to the fact that none of us are alone in this world…there are so many people who are experiencing the exact same feelings, dreams, fears, and hopes that we are. I love my blogging family and I look forward to sharing stories together for many days to come J

What do you enjoy the most about blogging?

  1. I enjoy most of the things you do! It's really opened my heart up, and that's weird to say, but there are so many accepting people!

I now have my morning coffee with my blogs :)

  3. Oh yay! Thanks for this post

My favorite thing about it is that somehow, no matter what's going on in my life it makes a bit more sense when I type it out. It's like a diary--except with feedback! :)

  4. I have discovered too that I like reading other blogs...sometimes more than writing my own that day.
It is fun and insightful, and something that I am glad I get to do everyday.

  7. I love connecting with people that I never would have met without blogging. I love to write, and I also love to read others' blogs, including yours! I look forward to new posts.

You're doing a great job with this post. You ask such penetrating questions and make us think, but it's fun too.

I'm doing a post this weekend celebrating 6 months of blogging. The best part of it is celebrating the friends I'm made!

  10. I too set out without specific expectations, and I think that's what has allowed me to transform, and find my own 'niche.'

My favorite thing about visiting other blogs is that there are so many ways to be inspired (I always leave here pondering something worthwhile, so thank you)!! I also love that I don't have to visit Martha Stewart or Good Housekeeping for all my home & gardening ideas... I have blogger friends who share ideas that are just as good as theirs, or better!!

It's great to be able to interact with so many like-minded individuals ~ whom I never would've met :)

You were the first person I didn't know to reach out to me and it made me stoked and want to meet more like minded people. I have a lot of fun as well reading other peoples blogs and love recording things that make me happy as well as getting a ton of advice I need! LOL

  13. Well my blog started out as a way of guiding folk to my art web site ( www.chrisgauntartist.co.uk ) but as time went by this changed. I found I was inspired to make comments on all sorts things, to write and post more of my poetry. In short I started to enjoy it for it's own sake and it often helped me to process whatever was going on for me emotionally. It has become a sort of diary and it's nice to look back and remember things too.

  14. OE,

I am very happy to belong to part of your blogging family too. Sharing words and thoughts, which might otherwise remain undiscovered and unshared.
The world is a much smaller place through the medium of blogging. An interesting concept and one which brings only goodness into my life and I am pleased to read, into your life as well.
Thank you for your very kind words at my blog:)

  15. Keith,

What do I like about blogging?

I'm connecting with others I might not otherwise have ever met, and it would be my loss, not knowing each one. It helps me inventory my thoughts. I use it as my gratitude journal. It has stretched me and given me discipline: I write every day, at length, because I blog.

What has been the surprise, as a blogger? The increased joy I have towards the work involved when writing. It's an effort, but a glorious one. To quote Tolstoy, I leave a little bit of my blood in the inkwell, every time I put words together.

  18. I have enjoyed the incredible sense of supporty I've found through other bloggers. It's so nice to know that there are people out there trying to do what you're doing. It's nice to know you're not alone.

As a mother of young children, it often helps me gain perspective and find the humor in otherwise very frustrating events. That's why I blog at the end of the day. If I wrote at dinner time, the blog would have a totally different feel.

I also love the sense of family. And though I'm fairly new to yours, I'm so glad we found each other.

  26. I am not part of a big blogger community, but the people I do interact with through my blog and their blogs I feel I am really getting to know them, even though we have never met in real life.

Blogging has been very therapeutic for me - it has made me appreciate my life more by documenting bits of it. And even the fact that I try to blog regularly makes me feel good - in the same way exercising does. It is part of my week.

Thank you for your kind words!

  29. This is a great post! I like reading other peoples blogs because it is interesting to get an insight into the life and thoughts of strangers from all over the place and with all different experiences. It's not something that people in the past could do with such ease. And everyone has something interesting to share.

  30. I LOVE blogging! I also started blogging on a whim because I was bored and desiring to connect with all my friends everywhere in the world. I really like it because I find it gives me a voice for my otherwise internal feelings that tend to remain hidden. So blogging is the medium I prefer for making those thoughts/feelings external, partly because it gives me time to process all my busy thoughts. Plus I like to see how bold I can be/what I can get away with.

I would love it, Keith, if you made a post or something highlighting some of the great blogs you read. I'm not very good at 'discovering' new blogs and would love some good pointers on blogs to check out. :)

  31. I haven't been as successful as you have in developing a network. I spend more time with photography, posting to another site. But here, I feel a freedom to go deeper. I'm not just commenting on a photo -- mine or a friend's. I can think critically about ideas.

  32. I love reading other posts and getting glimpses into lives that are different than mine, whether it's because they live in a different part of the world, or they have different interests than me, or if they're doing something that I never would have considered doing with my life. I also love seeing what talented people are out there in the world. It's so inspiring!

  33. I, too, started my blog on a whim, not entirely sure why I was doing it, just that something inside me compelled it so. And it's kind of just taken on a life of its own. The best feeling is when I get feedback from people, emails, Facebook messages or comments. Whether it's that something resonated with them or just a simple word of encouragement to me, it's an automatic feeling of connectedness. And then you found me and I've been able to begin following your blog. And it truly has been a meaningful connection. It's great how the blogger community kind of supports itself and each person promotes another. I'm still kind of in the shadowy back corner of it all as I've often been in life ;-) But I hope to one day develop the network you have ... and regardless, thanks for continuing to share your insights.

  34. There are so many things I like about blogging! I love getting to know people all over the country (with a couple of international locations too). I like writing my goofy posts but I also like reading the ideas of other people. Touring your blog, for example, inspires me on lots of levels. Mostly, I like the connections between people.
