Why I Love Springtime

“Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer.” ~Geoffrey B. Charlesworth
Ah springtime. The season of new beginnings. Suddenly you can feel the pulse of life returning. The mornings are brighter, the skies seem bluer, and the air just seems...fresher. It’s as if the earth is coming alive after taking a long winters nap. The grass is getting greener and the trees are getting fuller. There is a feeling of rejuvenation in the air that is not present in any other season. Nature is rejoicing and it’s impossible not to rejoice with it!

With spring drawing near, I feel it’s only appropriate to muse on the myriad of reasons that I love this time of year.

Warmer Weather
The warm sun on your skin is such a great feeling.  On warm spring days Mother Nature is literally inviting you into her house by drawing you out of yours :)

Flowers
The colors are everywhere. From yellow daffodils, to red tulips, to purple hyacinths, to white lilies…the colors are endless and amazing.

Rain
There’s nothing quite as soothing as the sound and sight of a warm spring rain as it nourishes the earth.

Lighter Clothes
It’s nice to finally break out the shorts for the first time in months!

Picnics
Is there anything more romantic than a spring-time picnic?

More daylight.
The days become longer and longer…allowing us to revel more and more in the amazing sunlight.

Awakenings:
As spring enlivens the earth, it also enlivens us.

Leave the window open at night
There are few things I love more than to fall asleep to the sounds of mother nature.

Smell of freshly cut lawns
I love Saturday afternoons with the sounds of lawnmowers in the distance and the smell of freshly cut grass in the air.

Optimism:
Isn’t there just something optimistic about spring? It’s as if there is an extra “pep in our step”, an extra dose of enthusiasm!

Birds!!
There are few sounds on earth as wonderful as the melodic sounds of all the different springtime birds singing in unison…makes for an unbelievable start to the day.

Green here, green there, green green everywhere!
I love seeing the grass and the trees brought to life by endless spring rains resulting in a beautiful hue of rich green.

Spring Holidays
I know we usually associate the Holidays with late autumn and winter, but springtime has quite an impressive list of holidays itself!  St. Patrick’s Day , Good Friday, Easter, Earth Day (great cause), and Mother's Day.

Spring Cleaning
Springtime is great for de-cluttering! I love spending a random spring weekend airing out the house and cleaning it from top to bottom. Great way to start the spring!

These are but a few of the many reasons that I love springtime. What's your favorite thing about spring?

153 comments:

  1. I'm all for the de-cluttering!
Mowing the lawn - not so much.
I invite anyone who loves the smell of grass to come cut my lawn this summer. I'll bring you water when you've passed out from the humidity.

  2. nice....i love the sounds of the birds...the hope that all the new life brings...all the color flooding back into the world....spring is def a fav time...and much looked forward to this year....smiles.

  3. It has got to be my tomatoes! Mid March, this weekend! I will start my saved heritage tomato seeds from last year in my greenhouse. You cannot buy tomatoes like these, you got to do it yourself. Time to empty the flower pots and replace the soil and think of all the flowers that will soon be blooming. Love it.

  4. To be able to go out more often and enjoy my afternoon walks ~ To wear lighter and brighter clothes ~ And to get rid of stuff over the last year ~

Spring and summer are my fav seasons ~ Happy day to you ~

  5. I love Spring!!! No more jackets and bulky sweaters!! Of course -- ours doesn't last long in AZ -- in fact it's in the 90's the rest of the week here! LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. My favourite thing about Spring is that very first day when you step outside...it is still winter but your nose picks something up...it smells different. You stand there for a moment trying to decide what THAT is and then you realize....it's the smell of Spring coming. Every day after that, no matter the weather, you detect some other slight difference heralding Spring.

  7. Let me tell you first I m sure you love all seasons lol!
I learnt these last years each season has a lovely thing!
Personally I love autumn! But spring is lovely because is like magical with the flowers; some fruits and the sun only warm!
When you begin your spring we begin autumn here and Easter for me is in autumn but I love it!!
    Hsve a lovely day!

  8. Ahh , spring. My most fave season of the year. Well said on all those reasons. Bring it on...

    ReplyDelete
  9. For me in our climate ~~~ we cross our fingers for the hope of a long spring because every year the length varies. Last year spring felt like 3 months of glorious soft ethereal loveliness and the early springs lasted for a couple weeks and then summer. So I take FULL advantage of each spring day ~~~ inhale and exhale every ounce of it!

  10. Oh yes, all of those things. Today I have clear skies and sunshine, but it's cold - even so, walking into my town centre today was a real treat, I had a smile on my face and won £5 on a lottery scratch card. A great day!

  11. Freshness in the air and chirping of birds till late evening is something worth loving...its so nice to be back to your blog after such a long break :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I love spring for all of those reasons! I think my favorite is the smell. There's nothing like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. My favourite thing about spring would have to be the return of nature and all it's wonders and colours. It's also the return of my hay fever, but I get by and consider it worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. There is a beguiling softness, about Spring.

Not feeling it, here in my neck of the woods yet, though. 'Tis not going higher than freezing today, and bits of snow, are falling. :-)

  15. Spring is my favourite season of the year. It's the awakenings that really speak to me. I love how the earth comes back to life, and new life also begins as baby critters arrive. All the things you wrote, and probably a dozen more, is what I love about this glorious season.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Suddenly you can feel the pulse of life returning"......I love that and know exactly what you mean. English weather has not quite made its mind up yet, yesterday it snowed and today I ate my lunch outside but there is definitely that feeling in the air that spring is on its way.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm with you on everyone of these points. It's as if everything in the world wakes up just a little bit more.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The most thing I love in Spring is the beautiful flowers everywhere, And of course all the reason you mentioned on your blog.:)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I do like all of the colors of spring except that nasty yellow green pollen that pollutes everything. It lays on your cars and decks and you have to spray everything down at least every two days here in North Cackalacky. (sneeze, sneeze)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I so agree with you - LOVE that picture- so full of life and spring. Colors. I love to declutter too - it feels so good and light and freeing. sandie

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, it's snowing here today so it's not quite spring. But when the weather does warm up I love to see all the people out walking and biking (even though it's pretty icy out). I feel a real sense of community! Especially since the world is houses and cars, no people in the winter.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ah, you have done a wonderful job summing up the wonders of spring! What I really like about spring is the anticipation, the knowledge that all will get better, the looking ahead to summer (before summer comes). I appreciate the longer days, the gradual warming, the return of birds, the budding of trees, and the ability to walk dogs without plodding through snow or freezing to death. I LOVE spring!

    ReplyDelete
  23. hmmm...I'm a live by the moment seat of my pants kind of gal...so I'm thinking today? GREEN BEER! Up ahead!

    ReplyDelete
  24. "On warm spring days Mother Nature is literally inviting you into her house by drawing you out of yours"--I love that sentence!

I love the flowers--the sight and the scent--and the sound of the birds singing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. oh i love this post. i love spring so much.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can tell spring is here now that there are bees around

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like spring, too. I love sitting by my pool in the warmth of the spring sun, reading a good book, and listening to the squirrels and birds. It's my sanctuary.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Having everything green again, and not having to wear a jacket and such everywhere is very nice. De-cluttering too, even though I'm good at that anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If we really had a Spring here I would like it. Unlike when I lived in California and we had all four seasons, here in las Vegas we really only have 2 seasons. Cool and Hot! it went from being in the 50's and now it's gonna be in the 80's this week. Soon it will be 114F.

I like not having to wear my jacket and long sleeve shirts but we don't really have spring...lol

    ReplyDelete
  30. ohhh yesss absolutely, this is probably my second Spring in US, Its quite chilly in kansas but I can see more day light and flowers around!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. more daylight and I can fling the windows open as I sweep out winter!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Fine list of seasonal joys, Keith. Since I retired, my favorite thing about Spring is not having to maintain baseball and soccer fields.

    ReplyDelete
  33. We got a ton of snow over here today. Doesn't feel like spring at all anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love spring. I am yet to see anything springlike here yet. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. My favorite thing about spring is that my Seasonal Affective Disorder dissipates. And getting outside to PLAY with Evie is another ENORMOUS plus :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I will go for the spring cleaning. Spring travelling seems a little bit of an expense we may not need.
My husband will agree with you about leaving the window open at night. He does that for the oxygen that we need.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh I love everything about this it just made my day start out just the way I like it optimism and a huge smile:) Thank you B

    ReplyDelete
  38. Going out without a coat. The two days all sorts of things have budded out and soon will unwrap themselves into blossoms and leave, little packaged self opening gifts for us to enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with all your reasons, but my own personal favorite is all the wonderful blooms. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi Keith .. I'm still waiting - the freezing cold is still around .. though the days are longer = bliss ... and just having the windows open to let the air in = bliss ... I enjoy mowing lawns, though don't have now. I love travelling the country lanes and seeing the new growth ... it's coming - but warmth without coats required would be wonderful ..

The blackbirds sing so early ... even 4.30 a.m. ... their song is so melodic .. Cheers Hilary

  41. Sorry to be unoriginal but your list just about covers everything - if only it would arrive - this winter has been interminable.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  43. what lovely thoughts on Spring! I love it for the flowers which start to bloom everywhere!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love Spring so much! The first time I see that bright blue jay I know it has arrived! I love seeing the birds too and the green! I love the trees with their leaves and strong aromas! I can't wait!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. All of the things you listed!!
Great post...it's definitely in the air....although we were faced with ice and snow this morning! :)
Now the sun is peeking out and birds are singing...and the windows are open...yay!
    Just lovely...
Thank you for reminding us to take it all in!
    Enjoy the day,
    - Irina

  46. You described spring perfectly-I love spring for all those reasons too-everyone. Only thing I might add-I love hanging clothes to dry on the clothesline-and living in the woods-it is even more enjoyable to me. The first warm day in spring I eagerly put my clothes on the line.
I am serenaded with the birds singing, I sometimes get a glance of a fox running just inside the woods, deer, the frogs are singing in the ponds-wonderful time of year for me too.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The older I get, the more I long for spring!! YES to your freshly cut lawns! And birdsong! I just love hearing that one lone bird in the winter, it reminds me of spring. And I am hearing a bird now! I also love the abundance of flowers, they are such willing photo subjects.

    ReplyDelete
  48. i love to mow lawn, so that puts me in a good mood. love birds, too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh yes, I love all these things about Spring...and more light in the day is so welcome! I think my favorite thing is the renewed hopefulness I feel.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's lighter in the mornings now so it's easier to get up. Along with all of your favorite things too.

    ReplyDelete
  51. In SWFL, we don't get a lot of season change in our flora - but some trees are blooming that normally do not and I love that!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I absolutely LOVE spring
Not only the colours and flowers, but the lovely weather as well. Great post, as ALWAYS.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love going outside in my bare feet :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. The sound of birds is surely the best thing about this time !!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Everything about spring is my favorite. Except bees and elm pollen. The scent of freshly cut grass is one of my favorites :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well, not the spring rain...we get plenty of that all year in Seattle. My Camellia tree is blooming and it's beautiful. I love the flowers and the warmer weather. My husband has bad allergies, so it's not his favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Keith, you have covered many of the good feelings of spring but let me see.....today for example we (Sophie, the dog, Ron and I) went to the beach and around to the river, it was almost 10C and the sun was shining,Sophie was in the river with no ice!! Very uplifting!

    ReplyDelete
  58. You said it all so well!

Soon it will be barefoot time! Yes!

Another 5" of snow here this a.m. BooHoo!

    ReplyDelete
  59. As you (probably) know, Southern California has a Spring that is not much different from any other season. But I do love the warmer days, accompanied by shorts and flip flops, rather than leggings and Ugg boots. I love the longer days, making it possible to fit in a bike ride at twilight after dinner. I'm seeing a few trees bloom here and there, but the real sign is the mass of Tulips and Daffodils at Trader Joe's. I like to buy an armful to take home and cheer my house out of the doldrums. This is the time of year when fresh local produce is available in abundance, and its fun to create beautiful food that feels as healthy as it is beautiful. We have flowering plants here year round, but in Spring the colors available are particularly lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I revel in spring because I can finally plant my seeds in the soil. Gardening has always been my 2nd most favorite thing to do. This year, I have a new little greenhouse, and even though the weather here is somewhat cold, I can start planting. Yay

    ReplyDelete
  61. You make such a convincing case and I totally agree with all. However since I moved to Arkansas, I have developed seasonal allergies (I managed the first 65 years of my life allergy free)so I have to add itchy eyes, sneezing and a runny nose to the list. All in all, the good still totally outweighs the bad.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love the newness of spring, all the colorful flowers, just being able to get outside without having to bundle up in a lot of clothes. I love spring :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Love all of the things you mention Keith. Just bought a new garden bench and looking forward to having breakfast in the garden watching the birds land on our feeder. Just got to wait for a dry day!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I love it all except for the allergies.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I couldn't pick a favourite. I agree with all of yours. I just cannot wait for spring! Keeping the windows open is a great one!! And getting outside more...even spring cleaning appeals to me, as long as those windows are open and a breeze is blowing through. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Spring is so wonderful. It's like coming alive after a long nap or hibernation! Seeing green and bright flowers instead of dull brown everywhere is such a welcome change! And I love ditching my coat and not having to put on 3 layers every time I go outside!

    ReplyDelete
  67. We lived in South Texas for awhile and though it did get cooler in Nov-Feb ( it was mainly 50-70) it went to unbearably hot in the summer. We hardly ever opened our windows, ever, because we were near the water and the humidity would get in the house and cause terrible mold problems. No real Spring or Fall and I did not understand what I was missing till we moved back to where we live now. I love Spring, followed closely by Fall. Having my windows open feels heavenly.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Over here in the northern tropics where I now live, its disappointing as one season is pretty much the same as the others. But when I resided in the south where we experienced 4 true seasons, Spring was rejuvenating and exploding with life! It was intoxicating with its colour and sound. I will miss those 4 seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love Spring! I love the rain, the birds, Spring cleaning...gives me a sense of renewal and peace.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Lovely post and pic. The best about spring is that I grow our own vegetables. When I plant the seeds I feel the season inside my body. But it's still snowing here, and I am thankful for it. I don't feel ready to move on to spring yet. (I may be too attuned to my surroundings... or did I become a Winter nut?I'm not sure).

    ReplyDelete
  71. I agree with everything you have listed but the Spring Cleaning. I will leave that to my hubby! I LOVE Spring, Summer and Fall!

    ReplyDelete
  72. For me the best thing about spring is teh gorgeous sense of nostalgia that comes with it.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I love just about all of the reasons you've listed, but one of the parts I've been missing lately is that Saturday night (usually in May) - the first drive in movie night of the year. That's when it feels we are right on the cusp of summer.

    ReplyDelete
  74. For me, spring is that perfect blend of coolness and freshness and beauty in all its fertile lushness. Though of course I haven't experienced spring in awhile -- it's a perpetual sweltering summer here lol

    ReplyDelete
  75. Sweet
    Pretty
    Reminders
    Intimating
    Nothing
    Grows without purpose

    ReplyDelete
  76. I love spring, too! :) Mostly bc summer is right around the corner and I love, love summer. My favorite part is warm weather, sun, bare feet, and flip flops! Have a great spring :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. the smell of flowers and freshly cut grass, i cannot wait for it to become milder and brighter!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Ah Keith, my friend and his thoughts on the rebirth that is spring. The spring that is happening in the Northern Hemisphere.

A renewal as sleeping beauty awakens and brings to us resplendent splashes of colour, of hope.

As you know, the wee folks in my garden, have a message of spring and a renewed thought that humanity can learn their lessons.

Be well and may the spring bring you ongoing peace and fulfilment.

    Gary

    ReplyDelete
  79. the longer days, the blue sky days, the warmth of the sun - you pretty much nailed it!

    ReplyDelete
  80. My favorite thing is the urge to wash windows and clean, clean, clean...rolling along with the cleansing and renewal of the earth.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Great list of the gifts Spring brings to us. I also like the sounds of the first sounds of thunder that come with the Spring rains.

    ReplyDelete
  82. But...the dog turds in the yard start to defrost.
    So, I guess I'm a buzz-kill.

    ReplyDelete
  83. It's the feeling of hope. I go from hunker-down, endure winter mode to looking toward adventures.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Oh my gosh - you already got so many good ones! Birds and open windows are definitely up there for me! And I can't wait to have picnics again. :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Shorts??? Brighter mornings??? Do you guys not do "Daylight Savings Time"? Our mornings just got darker again. And we had the biggest, fattest snowflakes yesterday. lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. Spring is my favourite time of the year! I like it when you go outside and it smells like spring, and no need for a jacket either.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Such an absolutely perfect time of year. Gets the blood pumping and happy thoughts in gear. Yes, spring is tied with autumn as my favorite season. I love to smell the warming of the earth, walk among the spring ephemerals, watch the snails on the move, hear the birds, rain and soft breezes, see the bright, new green of leaves bursting all around, and to feel that warmth from the longer days - something about coming home, windows open and making dinner as I watch the sun set. Love it all!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I love spring too. It's the prettiest season of all in my opinion. When the cherry blossoms start blooming, oh my! The world just looks so pretty then!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think you pretty much covered it. :)

Here in Florida, the Cabbage Butterflies are abundant in the spring (April) and swarm around the Indian River (one of the spots we go kayaking) - it's like something out of a fairytale or a dream to be sitting in the middle of the water surrounded by white butterflies.. I think that's my favorite thing about the spring.

    ReplyDelete
  90. What a great list and photo Keith. I love the promise that spring holds, that anything is possible. Spring, bring it on!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I love being able to go to sleep with my window open, falling asleep to the the cool light air, then wake up to the sound of birds. It certainly brightens my day.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'm with you--I love spring too, but the rain is not one of the things I love about it.

    http://joycelansky.blogspot.com/2013/03/dogs-make-difference.html

    ReplyDelete
  93. Your list makes me feel wistful...it will be awhile before spring arrives in Maine. It snowed tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love the explosion of colored flowers, and their sweet scents coming in through the open windows, and our cats sitting on the windowsill, sleepy-eyed, watching the birds and squirrels; the birds, singing like the most joyous choir, and the woodpeckers pounding out their staccato accompaniment. Um, yeah... I love spring. (All except the pollen. The pollen here is so bad you could shovel it.)

    ReplyDelete
  95. I totally agree!! What's not to love about spring?!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm with you on all the above! There's just so much to enjoy...I'm waiting on the return of the Western Meadowlarks still but it won't be long now!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Fresh air , flowers, butterflies. colors, bird's song every thing is my favorite ;)

    ReplyDelete
  98. You've listed all the reasons that I love spring and aptly summed it up by saying that you can feel the pulse of life returning.

    ReplyDelete
  99. What I like about spring is that it is not summer! Too hot at times. And I can start to wear shorts again (not that I ever really stop!)

    Cheers

    Stewart M - Melbourne

  100. Well, bless you for these cheering thoughts, sorely needed.

    ReplyDelete
  101. No more cold, that is the best thing for me.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Wow! There’s a lot about spring to cherish here... and for us, next to winter is right summer. The brighter sunlight day reveals more energy.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Spring: Sun, light, sun, heat, sun.

Can't tell I live in Minneapolis, can you? :-)

    Pearl

    ReplyDelete
  104. Spring is my favorite season because it is the perfect combination of crisp air and new warmth! I can't believe we are having weather in the 60's and 70's this week :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. I wish we had warm rain. That doesn't happen where I live! Spring is my favourite time of year because I like to see everything waking up again. I love the lighter mornings (helps with actually waking up on time) the flowers and the feeling of hope it brings.

    ReplyDelete
  106. You're so right about these things. Optimism is my favorite thing about Spring, and oddly enough, farmers. Where we live, the farmers are all starting to come out and help one another get ready for the season. I love that sense of helping out your neighbor that they display every single year.

    ReplyDelete
  107. The things I love about spring are the same as yours, but I suppose I would say that my ultimate favourite things are the lengthening days and the promise of warm sunshine to come!:)

    ReplyDelete
  108. Flowers . . .they're coming on now. Nature's Morse Code. The crocuses are the dots. The daffodils the dashes:)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I love spring too....if only we had some in Minnesota. We go from deep frost to 85 degrees in about 10 days here.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yes a friend just asked me for the details of a house we rented in Sonoma and in the process I cleaned out my whole desk!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Flowers - I love the pretty colors that replace all the whites and browns of winter.

    ReplyDelete
  112. You've described Spring so beautifully! The one thing you've left out is the intoxicating fragrance of so many of the Spring flowers: lily of the valley, lilac, hyacinth and more :) Breathe in!

    ReplyDelete
  113. I love a few things about spring, though our spring here in the desert is MUCH different than yours! I love the annual antique car show, I love that it's my birthday season, I love that flowers are starting to bloom on the cacti, the paloverde, and the scrub brush, and I love that it rains once or twice.

I also love that the winter visitors are starting to contemplate leaving again. Heh.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I love your blog. I feel dumb asking, but can you tell me how I can follow you??

    ReplyDelete
  115. I agree with all of these!!! I noticed the chirping birds and a few crocuses on my run this morning. It's so refreshing knowing that the warmer weather is arriving!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Still waiting for Spring to kick in here.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I absolutely love spring for all the reasons you mention. It is my favourite time of year. Also I am drawn to green, if I walk into a room of paintings the greenest one will command my attention first even if it is a bad painting.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I agree with you and spring does bring an extra pep in our steps :) Love this.

    ReplyDelete
  119. indeed a lovely wonderful time of year ~

    ReplyDelete
  120. I love singing birds, but my favourite thing about spring are 1. it's maple sugaring season in New England...and 2. when the crocuses bloom.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Spring is wonderful except for a few weeks when I'm allergic to all the birch trees!

    Lovely shot!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I've been away since too long but I'm back even if for a while.

The bloom that fills the air is what I love about spring the most.

    ReplyDelete
  123. spring can sprout miracles, oh God how I wish

    ReplyDelete
  124. I love spring too. It's the beautiful season of all in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  125. i love spring, and that's a great list of reasons to do so:-) x

    ReplyDelete
  126. I too love spring time... but where is it?? We got snow last night and it is STILL SNOWING.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I do love spring, and I celebrate the Equinox as a religious holiday (next week *smile).

I love the birds, the flowers, the full trees, the sunlight, but not the suntan! It does make me more optimistic. I do better at spring semesters of school, I'm [usually] less depressed. There are lots of things I dislike about this time (heat, wasps, mosquitoes, heat, wasps, mosquitoes), but I agree that it is a very celebratory time. Seriously, though -- I hate summer. Only good thing about summer is iced coffee.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I absolutely cannot wait to break out the shorts and the better attitude. Do not get me wrong-I do love the winter. However, starting at the end of February, I get kind of..done!
Wishing you a wonderful green weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  129. What a wonderful list! I like the way you notice the important things and I your optimism. I love so many things about spring but one of my favorites is the return of green. It is so soothing and peaceful and it heals my eyes after the harsh glare of the snow. I love green!

  131. With you 100% I love Spring. What's the best bit: not having to shiver on my way to work. The sound of the Blackbird singing in the evenings. Looking forward to summer BBQs - just round the corner :)

  133. I love the dynamism of spring, the feeling that everything is changing all around us. I love the spring flowers and birdsong too of course

  134. All of it!!! How can you not love all of it!! I must say the smells of summer are my favorite though. The smell of rain, fresh cut grass, BBQ, sunscreen. I love it so much

  135. I'm going to say all of it too...especially new beginnings, more light and fun, and of course, the smell of freshly cut grass. :)Nice to read this to remind me to really feel the gratitude. :)

  136. I enjoy the cold of winter actually. I really don't like hot weather at all, but warm is okay. I don't wear shorts ever, except to do workout-related stuff either. Fresh cut grass smell is great though!

  137. You touched on a couple of my favourites already. Early morning sounds of birds welcoming the day and windows open through the days and nights. i would add the sight of 'new green' as another favourite. There is no other colour like the bright green of newly unfurled leaves in the trees.

  140. You would not believe how much I have to bundle up during winter! Agh!
Spring means...putting away my parka and socks and hearing more birds and sleeping out under the stars! Spring has not sprung here yet, but when it does, you will hear me singing from my prairie to your Kentucky home!

  141. Now forgive me Keith ( can I call you Keith?)
You are sounding remarkably like a cross between REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM and MARIA VON TRAPP

  142. Your list captures much of what I like about spring. What I love about Spring is that it pulses with life, sweet fragrance, and happy chirping birds and blooming flowers.

  146. I love, love, love the rain!! So excited for that when the time rolls around. :)

I'm also looking forward to shedding my winter coat and boots.

The smell of freshly cut grass is one of my favorite smells. It could be my favorite smell. It's the first thing that pops into mind when people ask that question. (Not that people ask me that often, but still...)

One of my favorite things about spring is when the air is fresh and it's warm enough to roll down the windows of the car (but not too warm...I don't like a lot of heat) and the snow starts to melt and water runs along the side of the road. When that happens, I definitely feel like it's spring!

I also like sleeping with the windows and hearing the birds in the morning. I wonder if the pup will bark when she hears birds. We're working on not barking when she hears/sees another animal. :)

  147. I am so glad spring is here! I think my favorite parts are the flowers, birds, increased daylight and more sunny days. I live in a city that has lots of water so a little later in Spring I look forward to seeing the baby ducks and geese... so cute!
