Cats and Dogs...

"If a dog jumps in your lap, it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing, it is because your lap is warmer." ~ Alfred North Whitehead

Cats and dogs. I love them both for entirely different reasons. Dogs are unconditionally loving and affectionate. They always enthusiastically greet you when you arrive home. Cats on the other hand will sometimes stay on their cushion, look at you, and say to themselves “you again?”

Dogs are social beings whereas cats are primarily solitary. Cats are very independent & unpredictable but incredibly entertaining. Cats do like attention, but only on their terms. Dogs, on the other hand, cannot get enough of your love and affection.

All in all, they are both fascinating and wonderful creatures and they make equally great pets, albeit in different ways.

Are you a cat person or a dog person?

  1. I don't have a pet right now but I love cats and dogs both.

  2. We had both when I was growing up and I was probably more of a dog person. But they each have their qualities. And it's like the differences between men and women - we each respond and think differently, but that's a good thing.

  3. ha. have had both...my best friend growing up was a dog...a hound...my wife is a solid cat person...i love my cats...they show affection in different ways...my old cat used to go check on the boys every night...and patrol....my new cat is like a dog...he likes to lay on your chest right under your chin...ha

  4. I have one of each but my heart will always belong to a cat.

  5. Both a cat and a dog live in my house. You are "right on" as to their differences. As I get older, I don't want additional work and the dog is just that. The cat is easy and comical so I'm leaning toward cats these days. Haha

  6. I always considered myself a cat person. In fact, I was rather afraid of dogs. But 3 years ago, when our beloved family cat was killed on the road, we didn't have the heart to "replace" him. He was the smartest, most personable cat my husband and I had ever owned -- together or separately.

So we got a German Shepherd. And she has totally changed my mind about dogs! I'm still drawn to cats more than dogs, but I appreciate dogs a lot more and I'm no longer afraid of other people's dogs.

  7. I have always thought of myself as a dog person but as I age I find I enjoy the cat for its independence and snuggling factor on its terms of course. B

  8. Definitely a dog person all the way. Love going on walks with them every day. Love it when they welcome me home. They each have their personalities, and each brings me joy in his/her own way. I also must say I am VERY allergic to cat dander...so even though I think litttle kittens are cute I could never own one.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Used to be a cat person (having owned three in my previous cat life!) ... and now I am a truly reformed DOGGY person!!!! Love my dog-babies :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh, I'm a cat person! As pets, they are low maintenance and while everyone in our house live fairly independent lives, we all reconnect in the evenings...Kitty fits right in with that...it's her time to cuddle and canoodle.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I lean more to dogs. We have two of each at our house and the dogs (both mutts but cute mutts) are so enthusiastic, playful, and affectionate. The cats - yeah, they sit and wait. I go for the fun stuff :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm a dog person—definitely. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I like dogs - - as long as they're not in my neighbor's yard barking incessantly all night.

My preference, however, is with the feline persuasion. I suppose I can relate to cats because they have most of my own traits - independent, unpredictable, nocturnal, unique.
And cats are much more affectionate than people give them credit for....

  14. Cat person converted to a dog person. I grew up with cats and always loved their independence but my husband grew up with dogs and one Siberian husky later, I was hooked. Forever.

    ReplyDelete
  15. a dog person--although as a child my love was equal--but my mom hated cats :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't understand cats because they are complex creatures. I'm just a simple dog lover. Pet, feed, play, poop. Simple!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I like both of them. They have their unique qualities. Cats are less high maintenance, no walks needed. And they don't bark. But dogs have a fun, goofy quality about the that makes you fall instantly in love.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am a dog person but having experience with both, I agree with your opinions :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Neither...but if I could be around them I'm thinking I'm a cat person. The neighbors had an outdoor cat when I was going to grad school in Savannah, GA. The dryers were kept outside there. The cat would come and join me whenever I was doing laundry. I called her Xena the Warrior cat. She used to kill roaches and leave them by our doorstep. Gross, but I heard that means they like you. I like that you can leave cats for a weekend to go out of town, and not worry about who is going to take care of them. I do like Boston Terrier, but dogs are too in my face, beg for food, smell, jump up on me, and lick me. Those things I find pretty annoying. I'm always thinking, "Give me a break. I'm allergic to you."

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm a "both" person. But I now have only dogs because I developed an allergy to cats. I have to make do with LOL Cats and FB kittehs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, Cat Woman, of course I like! I have a 128 pound mutt, a mix of Rottweiler, Pit Bull and Mastif, the gentlest dog I have ever seen who greets me every day with wagging tail and slobbering kisses. And, I have a cat, a creature who clearly owns me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. hmmm...well in my life I've had both not to mention goats, llamas, ostrich, chickens, peacocks, horses, have I forgotten any? oh yes..koi...:-). But the question is dog/cat.

At my art gallery I had an art cat. I don't want one in my home. Right now I have not had a dog for very long years because we love to travel and that presents a problem. But they are currently adopting out over 300 dogs from the OKC tornado...you go..the dog chooses you. I really like the idea of that and am kind of considering a rescue dog in the near future.

I love the loyalty and soul of a great dog and I kind of find myself wanting one these days.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm a tortoise person. :)

But if we were going to get another pet, it would probably be a small dog. Assuming the torts approved and would be safe with one.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love ALL animals, but I'm definitely a dog person. Dogs are so innocent, curious, loyal, loving, and at times, surprisingly smart. I love cats as well, but have come to realize I don't want one. My dogs don't kill innocent animals like birds, frogs, mice. I know some people don't like birds, frogs, and mice, but I do, and it makes me sad when a cat follows its instincts. Plus, I live in the country, so I would feel bad keeping an indoor cat. I'll have many more dogs though!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am an animal person too! Sometimes I am in the mood for a dog wrestle or a cat strolling against my legs. I have a large and small dog right now and I'm looking forwarding to adding another rescue pet, like going on vacation- anticipation is half the fun. . . . .
    Happy 4th Keith!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love them both but as to having one in the house....it would be cats.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm an animal lover, so I enjoy them both, but dogs, outdoors, and cats indoors.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I adore both of them, but prefer to have cats. I just don't have the time for the responsibilities that come with a dog. Cats are easier to care for and far more independent. And they are much friendlier and committed to their humans than people think. My two are very sweet and affectionate.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh crap... this is the post where I hide...

I grew up with cats, but am *really* allergic to them... and I've never been a fan of dogs... all the licking and jumping... but I always pretend in real life that I can love them! I'll pet and scratch them because I don't want to offend the owner. So... yeah... now you know my secret that I'm not a fan of either!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm of a dog person but I like cats although they only permit us to love them.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I used to be a dog person but somehow my cats rule the roost so I have to say I favor cats. They are just so powerful!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Definitely a dog person. There's just nothing in the world like the unconditionally joyous abandon of a dog's love.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Like them both, have neither anymore, became allergic to both but I'd love to have a cat again even though the last one always had to go out around 4:30am.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am both. Right now though I have only two cats and that is only because my landlord does not allow dogs. Have a happy 4th!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love them both. Currently I have two cats but I could add a dog if I wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How very true! I am more of a dog owner kind of gal, but I adore playing with my in laws cats when we go for a visit. They really are unpredictable. The littlest thing can send them into some crazy antics. And I seriously can't stop laughing when we bring my dogs, the get curious of the cats, and the cats swat the across the face. Funniest stuff ever!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why one of the other? That said, dogs are a lot of work and cats less so. My cats have always been high maintenance in the personal interaction department and cats usually are happier with a companion...So...cats: not so solitary, affectionate, loyal. empathetic, intelligent, funny and you don't have to go out in all kinds of ugly weather to they can pee and poo!

    ReplyDelete
  38. i love all animals - dogs, cats, horses, birds, etc. but dogs have my heart most of all. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. That orange cat looks exactly like me Leo. I miss him . He was a different cat and so mild and loving. He wouldn't even kill a live mouse. He just looked and wagged his tail. I swear he could almost talk. He had many good attributes.

Cats and dogs have individual personalities and as long as their personality gets along with my personality I like them both.

I like a quiet pet be it a cat or a dog. I don't care for meowy or barky animals.

    JB

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am definitely a dog person but I have owned cats. Or been owned by cats. I had one that ran away from home. Really. He ran away to my next door neighbor. How rude!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Cats suit my personality but I am very happy that both of these wonderful animals have accepted humans as their friends. They make so many people happy :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. In my mind they are like comparing apples to oranges. I like them both for entirely different reasons!

    ReplyDelete
  43. This post reminds me of a poem in which poet symbolized cats with women and dogs with men.And if i talk about my self then i am cat:P

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am an 'animal' person.
I know I would not live without them.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Like Just a Broken Angel, I'm an animal person. It probably comes from having grown up on a farm and having a fascination with zoology.

    ReplyDelete
  46. We had both dogs and cats as pet, only one at a time though.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was never terribly either but we got a maltese and I love him to bits - its a life changer!

    ReplyDelete
  48. CAT. I need a pet as independent and requiring of her own space as yours truly.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love both! But I'm a dog person... they are more than "pets", they are family.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've owned and loved both dogs and cats. They are both different yet delightful IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I first had cats growing up, then dogs, so I thought I was a "both" person. After becoming frustrated with the fickleness of cats, and having an awesome dog, I am unabashedly a dog person. I'm always happy to see a dog, and even happier when they soak up my attention.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love dogs and cats, but I have to say I am definitely a cat person. I grew up with a cat so I think that solidified my love for them! I am more of a laid back, easy going type person, so cats tend to mesh better with my personality. I like how chill they are :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Cats! My cat always used to greet me effusively whenever I had been out and he would pine if I went away, so although they don't love everyone, I think cats can be very dependent and person orientated. I love watching dogs outside, the way they trot along and run around really makes me laugh, but I'm not so keen on them in the house. I always talk to every cat I meet on the street. Birds too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love animals, but I would have to say that I am chiefly a cat person (should be no surprise at that!). Cats and I just seem to understand each other. But I love dogs, too, and they seem to like me.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have two cats so I suppose you could call me a cat person. They both have quite opposite personalities. Fadger, the elder one isn't into strokes and cuddles, but loves to bring her hunting trophies to show us what she's caught and is so proud of herself. The other cat (her daughter) will go to any lengths to have a stroke or a cuddle. If I happen to be going through a a gate and she's around, she jumps up and sits on the gatepost in the hope of having her ears stroked. It never fails.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I am more of a cat lover but do like dogs as well.

    ReplyDelete
  57. If I weren't allergic to cats I'd be a cat woman. We have a dog and she's wonderful. So both I guess.

    Have a terrific day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm a pet lover! I like all animals! I used to have cats growing up but now I have two dogs. All of my cats used to be more like dogs than cats though (They followed me around always wanting cuddles and attention, they all hated being alone and even waited at the door for me until I would come home every time that I had to leave). My puppies are so hilarious. They have giant and unique personalities and an abundance of energy. They brighten my day always and really help me to get out my moments of darkness! :) Hurrah for the animal kingdom!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Cat all the way!!! Do you have pets?

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love your description of cats and dogs, although I have to say that each dog and each cat has a unique personality. I love both and they both like me just as much.
I've been thinking about volunteering for the Humane Society lately.
When I lived in NZ my neighbor left his cat outdoors during the night and guess what. The cat slept in my bed every night without the neighbor ever finding out. Very sweet.
I've had pets all my life and I'd love to adopt one now.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm a dog person - I just love their endless affection and they can teach us so much about love.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Definitely a cat person here, and still missing our 21-year old Shadow who made that final vet trip last week.:-(

    ReplyDelete
  63. I am a cat person. Shh. Don't tell Buffett. He's laying on my feet right now. Seriously though, we havevtwo cats and two dogs. We take the dogs hiking but I love the cats that snuggle on my lap. Best of both worlds!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm neither, but I do appreciate their qualities, intelligence, companionship...

    ReplyDelete
  65. I have one of each but do prefer the dog. A dog will do things with you--go for a walk, a ride or play fetch. You pretty much only have to say "lets" and they are ready to go.
My cat is a snuggler which is nice at quiet times.
There is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbycvPwr1Wg which shows you what it would be like to have friends either cat like or dog like. I laughed till it hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love them both. Your picture is gorgeous.

My dog is a creep, she loves everybody and tries to please me all the time. My cats just turned their nose up and showed me their rear lights.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Always been a both person at my sea. Cats sure are independent indeed, a dog you can bribe, cat's say to heck with you until they want to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I am a cat person as they are easier to deal with... with being a single mom and working... I would be too busy to walk the dog... plus a cat is a lot less noisy :)

I love dogs... I just don't have the time for them :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. I adore them both but cats are certainly more entertaining. I think cats also show unconditional love but you have to invest in the relationship...I also recently read that people who love cats and dogs have brains slightly different than those who don't...isn't that fascinating! Happy Fourth to you!

    ReplyDelete
  70. If your house is on fire and the smoke alarm isn't working, the dog will warn you. Kitty, on the other hand, takes off out the cat-flap!

    Yay to dogs!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love both, but I'm more of a cat person. All of my cats have had awesome personalities. One thought she was a dog and the one I have now is a big mama's boy. Animals are great.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Love both, but cats more, they just suit my introverted personality more, don't sap my energy as much as my canine friends do!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I have both...my stray cat behaves more like a dog...my collie behaves more like a cat....do you have cats and dogs? xxxx

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love both but prefer cats in my senior years.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I don't have any pets but I would prefer a dog rather than a cat ~

    ReplyDelete
  76. I like dogs and had them when I was younger, but I adore cats and will have them till the end of time and probably after that too!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love both dogs and cats...but I consider myself a cat person because I have had many cats in my life (not all at the same time, though). :)

I read in a book quite sometime ago something that was comparing cats to dogs. It went something like this:

When you call a dog, it comes. When you call a cat, it takes a message and gets back to you.

I had to laugh because cats will come if and when they feel like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm more of a grandma goldfish person at this point as we don't have any pets now, and the closest pet in the family is my grandson's fish. :)

Hope the rain moves through before the fireworks! Happy 4th!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Love both, because you can't compare ... the true friendship and trust my dog offers, often breaks my heart at times ... although I won't show it ... meow, cat :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Makes me feel like being a cat person too someday.
'been a dog person, it's incredibly happy and expressing!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I am more a dog person. Although I do have both. 2 blue heeler dogs that are working ranch dogs. They love Frisbee, swimming in the creek and riding in the car. 3 older cats and 2 baby kittens. They like to hang out in the barns and on the porch. :) Happy 4th!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Why not both? I'd like a cat because I'm lazy and don't want to take care of it, but dogs are much more lovable.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I love them both equally. We have three dogs and a cat who thinks she's a dog. When we go walks, Jasmin our cat also comes along, and when we arrive home she greets us in the same way as our dogs, with lots of affection.Animals are great!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Cats. Probably because of history. I walk over the street to say hello to cats - people think this is strange. I think it's strange not to!

    Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

    ReplyDelete
  85. Absolutely true! We had cats once, and they were very quite but the little ones used to very playful. Dogs are right opposite to cats, as they love being sportive.

    ReplyDelete
  86. yes it is true but i am afraid of both...:D

    ReplyDelete
  87. I am definitely a dog person. I can not imagine not having a dog around. I have a Golden Retriever , the sweetest dog ever. Have a happy 4th of July!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Dogs are too needy. Puppies are cute. Cats are independent, contemplative and sensitive. A house is not a home without a cat!

    ReplyDelete
  89. A dog knocked me off my trike when I was three and I have been wary of them ever since... Like the haughty independence of cats - but don't own one - so probably a cat person.

  91. I don't have any pets in my house right now, but I would probably go for a dog, for the reason of protection. But well see, cause I'm not really a big fan of cleaning up mess hehehe.:) Happy fourth of July, Keith:)

  92. I have always said I am a dog person. After some very angry cats in my life as a child I leaned more towards the dogs of the world :-) we've had many, each with their own personalities and adorable qualities. Recently though; I have met two wonderful cats that I absolutely adore! Rats(though we call him sweet baby rights) is so cuddly and sweet that it's unreal. Then there is Fat Cat who is an absolutely trip. Anywho; that's just my thoughts on the matter :-)

    ReplyDelete
  93. My husband is a cat fan, and I am a dog fan, though I like both too. Right now we don't have either. Someday... :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. Dogs rule! Just had to say that. I'd like cats except I'm highly allergic to them.

  95. I have two dogs and 2 bunnies:) but I love cats too, last year my daugther bring a Little cat at home and I love it but we have to give him for the dogs!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I have both and love them equally (they look alot like these two you have here!), but I am more of a cat person :)
    Happy 4th to you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I love them both, Keith! I love all animals! My cats greet me at the door, too! Happy 4th! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  98. Happy 4th, Keith!

No pets at the moment, but I love both cats and dogs. Cats are definitely more independent! :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. How about an animal person? :) I have cats because they are easy to care for and not too demanding. Love dogs but don't have the time to devote to one. Now what I'd really like is a pony, perhaps some chickens, and goats....

    ReplyDelete
  100. That is the truth it just about sums up the differences between cats and dogs. I have to say I love dogs. sandie

    ReplyDelete
  101. I like them both for the very same reasons you stated. I think I'm just and animal person :)

    ReplyDelete
  102. I admit it! I'm a right catty bitch, I am! Or should that be queen?

    ReplyDelete
  103. I have one of each. The cat meows to demand I have a shower (which he loves), comes running at the hint of opening a can of tuna and is currently shedding everywhere. The dog is agoraphobic and hates other dogs so walk him is pretty impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Hi Keith - whooo what a lot of comments .. I love both - yet have none .. well I can't where I'm living .. so that's that. I hope to have my own again sometime soon ..

    Cheers Hilary

  105. Totally a cat person! It's funny to me when people say cats are solitary, I have always had super social cats. The two I have now run downstairs to greet us whenever we get home. Maybe they are dogs trapped in cats bodies...?! Lol. Hope you had a happy fourth!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'm both. I had cats my whole life til a few years ago. Now I have a dog that is my family. He is like my child and if I'm home, he is wherever I am. But I will always love cats!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Definitely a dog person. I've had too many cats who scratch me with no warning and it scares me.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Both, but we only have kitties now because they are easier to travel with in the motorhome, not needing to be walked...

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'd hate to have to make a choice...I love both equally.
In fact, I love ALL animals.:)

    ReplyDelete
  110. YES. Without a doubt, I am a cat AND dog person. Hmmm, come to think of it, I'm an animal person in general. And nobody has told our cats they're supposed to be solitary critters. They're almost always either right on top of me or very close by.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Probably a cat person though I definitely like dogs too. :-) Thanks for popping by my blog!

    ReplyDelete
  112. i am a dog person but love the 'attitude' of cats!

    ReplyDelete
  113. I'm a dog person for sure!!!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I love both,for different reasons, even though I'm a cat whisperer.

I like C.S. Lewis's comment regarding cats and dogs: "Cats and dogs need to grow up together. It widens their minds; affection widens ours."

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  115. Dog person, definitely. I don't trust any creature that knows how to take a crap in a box under my stairs from birth.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I always wanted to have dog, as pet, but couldn't for a few illicit reasons...though, have had a many cats as pet, since childhood, they're cute and busy with themselves, but a bit caring too...my first cat, she used to bid goodbye in her own unique way, when we would leave for our school bus..

    ReplyDelete
  117. Neither. I am a people person. :-) Beautiful post, though.

    Greetings from London.

    ReplyDelete
  118. totally, utterly and absolutely a dog person!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I love them both, and couldn't imagine a home without a dog and a cat(s).

    ReplyDelete
  120. I'm a dog person but I think cats can be really cute.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Definitely both - what's not to like - they seem to like me too - so it works both ways.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I like both dogs and cats but really I'm a bunny person. They're affectionate and fun and vegetarian!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I grew up with dogs, but as a mobile single person, I got a cat and she was perfect (up until I got married and as soon as she got over that, children started coming...). Now I'm back with a dog and I love him and my daughter is not allergic to him like she was to the cat, who died at 14 (when she was 2) and her breathing issues almost immediately cleared up.

    ReplyDelete
  124. love dogs. but have cats. they are much easier to have. self-sufficient.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Neither...I'm a rat person. lol
    <:)~

    ReplyDelete
  126. haha. I am a fish person.

We have a cat, but she is batshit crazy. So it works out. She wants to be left alone, I want to be left alone.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Chuckling at comment above! Love all animals...particularly wild ones...have half a dozen kangaroos who visit my yard everyday...

    ReplyDelete
  128. I am totally a cat person. :-)

But I loooooooooooove dogs too!!! I'd be useless with them though as I know dogs need training and such like - but I'd be totally feeble and let them do whatever they want! LOL! So thank heavens for cats! Take care

  129. I love this question because I think the answer tells you a lot about a person. I am 100% a dog person although I have loved a lot of cats in my life, too. My husband was a cat person when I married him and he brought his cat with him while I brought my dog. His cat did not like me. He went out of his way to make my life miserable and that is the only time I can remember ever seeing a cat go out of it's way. Since those days my husband has become very allergic to cats- YAY! And now he is a dog person. It's not just the allergies that changed his mind. We have had really wonderful dogs. But I guess when you come down to it, we both love all kinds of animals.

  130. Absolutely a dog person. I once tried to love cats, but the Universe had a different idea - to make me allergic to them. Dogs are loyal, kind and always willing to go on an adventure. I do know some cool cats, as long as stay their distance, which most cats know when you are allergic and try everything to make you sneeze. So, definitely dogs :)

  131. Definitely a dog person. My roommate is deathly allergic to cats as well, so I'd never be able to have one even if I wanted too...

  132. Ha! Am I right in thinking you lean toward the dog camp? I think cats are beautiful creatures, but since I am dreadfully allergic, have had very little interaction with them. Dogs, on the other hand, are God's most perfect creation. They are loving, uncritical, communicative and patient to a fault. It is a sorrow that so many are abused and abandoned.

  133. Dog person all the way! I do like cats and would definitely consider having one someday but it would always be in addition to my dog (or dogs). I have always loved dogs, which is funny because I think if I were a dog or a cat, I'd most likely be a cat.

  134. I like both and have had both over the years. I love a cat's independence....not needy at all!
Dogs on the other hand are very needy most of the time.....fine if you are up for it but if not they can be a drain sometimes. Is there an independent dog out there, other than a wolf?!

  135. DOG DOG DOG :) I believe the compassion and tenderness, the sixth sense and wonder dogs show is sometimes more than humans. Then again, I see people can love any animal and defend them :)

  136. Both with leanings towards dogs. They're just happy, friendly creatures. Besides, cats make crummy frisbee partners. :)

  137. I love them both. Now that we live really rural we have one cat-Miss Calico that has been with us for 10 years now-she lives outdoors though-but we feed her up by the house. She will take a long walk with me up to the ponds, visit me in my garden, and loves to "hang" out for a bit.
However, when we have a dog they are really treated more as a family member-and can be in the house with us. Our Nikita was a wolf-now she was totally more passionate and caring than any dog I have ever owned.

  138. I am a cat person. Currently living with two cats, one who is 15 years old and a baby cat who is only 2 years old. I´ve never thought I could be a cat (or dog) person when I was growing up, I just didn´t like pets and I was not able to understand why people found them so amazing. But since the first kitty came -almost accidentally- to live with me (twenty years ago or so) I fell in love with cats: I adore their personality and yes, they are independent but also quite amusing and playful, they master the art of living the moment.

Curiously enough, since I started to have cats in my life, I have learnt to appreciate another animals, in particular, dogs which are so friendly. I think both of them teach us how love unconditionally and this is fantastic.

By the way, yesterday I published a post with a quote about love and a photo of my kitty. Coincidence?, I don´t think so.

  139. When I was young I couldn't stand cats. I have always loved dogs because of their loyalty and love. But I have come to see the beauty and love in cats, and now I love them both! :)

  140. I lean towards being a dog person, but I love cats too. We used to have a dog and a cat and they became the best of friends. They were sweet together. They have both since died and now we just have a dog. I would love to get a cat, but it's more than we can handle right now. :)
