Autumn is around the corner!

Autumn is only a week away! My absolute favorite of the seasons.

I love every single thing about Autumn. It invigorates me in ways that I could never fully describe to anyone.

I love the crisp coolness of the air, the scents that abound, cornfield mazes, bonfires with s'mores, the fall festivals going on in all the small towns, The Halloween decorations, football season (Go Bengals!!), the World Series, Thanksgiving, and hundreds of other things.

Oh, and there's also pumpkin pie :)

The thing I love the most however, by far, is the colorful foliage that the trees take on this time of year. The myriad colors of yellow, orange, red, and brown. They combine to form Mother Nature's most beautiful collage.

Have you ever stood in a forest during a sunny autumn afternoon? Have you ever seen the way the sun shines down through the colorful leaves, reflecting all those amazing colors on the forest floor below? If you haven't, I highly recommend you do so. It will be one of the most amazing things you've ever seen.

So as we begin this wonderful time of year, I wish each and everyone of you a beautiful and amazing autumn season.

What is your favorite thing about Autumn?

  1. It may surprise you to know, you American imperialist, it is not the beginning of Autumn everywhere in the world. Some of us are entering Spring. But as you used the word Autumn, you are forgiven as that shows sensitivity. Just kidding of course. Autumn here is the nicest time of the year here too. Spring can be quite windy and such an erratic season.

  2. Autumn will be here soon - we usually don't see it until October.
I like the colors but have to confess - favorite thing about Autumn is football.

    ReplyDelete
  3. In our country, Autumn has begun too. I feel sad when leaves fall and become dry.

    ReplyDelete
  4. This post makes me realize how perhaps I don't appreciate living in a rural area, enough, where all around me trees display their autumn beauty. Thanks for the reminder.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Autumn is by far my favourite season - the cooler weather is the perfect excuse to curl up with a good book and a hot chocolate!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think Autumn is already here in New England. Definitely my favorite season - you described it well!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Well, my favorite season will always be summer because of my love of the beach. But, fall comes in pretty close because of all the reasons you listed. There's just something about driving through a country road while the leaves are changing that just fills my heart with appreciation for all we have in this world.

Not to mention it's football season too. Go Giants!

  8. We had below normal temps this summer, so I really feel like I am missing summer. The Autumn leaves are a pretty sight to see. The colors are so beautiful. The only I dread is the season behind Autumn, I hate winter.
Enjoy your day and the week ahead!

  9. Autumn already arrived to Portugal. As usual with and Unapologetic winter making introductions... with a mean, wet and messy streak. With summer days still to enjoy and prove that all bad and messy has a fun, loving and tidy side ahahahah
I absolutely love it. I love the dew in the flowers in the morning. I love the grays that suddenly appear in Nature - I cross the river everyday and the morning light is silver with golds - brilliant my friend.
And then I also like the invitation that you go inside, enjoy lazy sundays, bake something with cinnamon and apples.
What's not to like? Love it.

  10. what an amazing tree!!!!!! The trees changing is definitely on the top of my list, it gives the world such a golden glow,

  11. The leaves in your photo do look lovely...the beautiful colors are my favorite thing about autumn...and pumpkin pie sure sounds good! I like autumn itself, but it does give me a tinge of sadness to know winter is almost here.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh Keith I LOVE autumn as much as winter only for the fact of your question. "Have you ever stood in a forest during a sunny autumn afternoon? " The winter is just as beautiful. Everyday my friend every day:) Hug B

  13. Lovely photo!

I love the autumn colours and I particularly love seeing autumn leaves in the rivers, just magical.....

I also love the birds that migrate here in autumn....

    ReplyDelete
  14. I love autumn...as long as the weather is nice. Some years, it's wonderful; others it's cold and rainy. It's a crap shoot where I live. LOL...

But when it's nice, it's awesome! I especially love all the colours coming up; makes for wonderful photography. Oh, and all things pumpkin, of course!

    ReplyDelete
  15. My favorite thing is the chill, crisp air, a campfire, the bright blue skies, and the gorgeous colorful woods. It's the wonderful treat before winter sets in. I only wish autumn, rather than winter, were 7 months long.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Miss it as we dont have it her....Here it is always the tropical sun beating down on our heads.

    ReplyDelete
  17. My fave thing is that it's finally not 115 degrees every.single.day. in Phoenix ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. My favorite thing about Autumn is driving north to our family's vacation house in the Pocono Mountains and admiring the brilliant foliage.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have an autumnal soul. Autumn has always been my favorite season, and you summed it up perfectly, Keith.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Seeing the leaves change is sure nice indeed, and it cools down a bit which is nice. Can we skip winter though? lol

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi Keith .. I love autumn too .. especially the mists and mellow fruitfulness .. our leaves are dropping, but I think that's from a particular dry spell ..

We thankfully are experiencing the most wonderful Indian Summer - I'm very happy about that ... but the colours and smells of Autumn are amazing .. cheers Hilary

    ReplyDelete
  22. The smells of the crushed leaves underfoot....the burnings of the leaves....pumpkin pie and turkey dinners....the crispness in the air. Those are some of the things I love about autumn.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love the fresh fragrance of the air . . . I walk outdoors and I can smell the leaves even . . . and of course the fragrances that accompany fall time events. Camp fire smoke, beer fest happenings, chili cook offs, fish boils . . . it seems everyone has some kind of fragrant delight in fall. One thing I enjoy about carving a pumpkin . . . the fragrance alone. A bite into a freshly picked apple . . . Yay for your post . . . and for tickling my senses . . .

    ReplyDelete
  24. The cooler temperatures for sure. I'm so over these 100 degree days.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's my favorite season, too, Keith. It always feels like the start of something new. Guess it's from school days starting after Labor Day.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Autumn is my most favorite season too, and I am blessed to live in the woods amongst all those glorious oaks, hickorys, and more-love it

    ReplyDelete
  27. Autumn is my absolute favourite season. I'm already walking through fallen leaves. The dead trees I don't like so much but the weather is my favourite kind. Not hot, but still not too cold yet. I also enjoy seeing the little animals because they tend to be all over the place before they hibernate. I saw a squirrel just last week.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We don't get a lot of color change here in N.E. Florida, but we do get a little. When I lived in New England for fifteen years, fall was my favorite time of year, although spring was a close second.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Love the colors, the cool nights and I used to love burning the leaves. Now I love not owning a house and having others pick up those leaves.

    ReplyDelete
  30. it has been 30 years since i lived in autumn, we don't have it hear in Florida.. at least not in our part of FL... but i do love to stand in the forest and look up at the trees and the sun shining through, any time of the year.... and i do like crisp air to breathe, we will get that in November if we are lucky

    ReplyDelete
  31. My favourite thing is exactly what you have posted here, Keith...these glorious rich colours of Nature...and the warm sunny days of course! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. September is my favourite month - the crisp, clear autumn air but still hanging on to glorious warm sunshine. And the return to school when everything is exciting and new and I realise how much my girls have grown!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Beautiful photo! I am VERY ready for Autumn. I love the crip, cool air. I am actually disappointed because this weekend is supposed to be warm again.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Beautifully written! Autumn is my favorite season as well! I love the smell of autumn. I cannot describe it but everything smells better in autumn.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love all the same things you mentioned but if I had to add one, it's this: the smell of woodsmoke in the crisp cool autumn air.

    ReplyDelete
  36. All of everything you listed, but I call it band season, instead of football season...since I have two granddaughters in the band...

    ReplyDelete
  37. i loved the change of seasons in wisconsin. here in texas, it brings cooler temps and a hope for rain. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. My favorite thing about Autumn are the cooler temperatures and the colorful leaves. I love to drive along a ridge of hard wood to see foliage in an array of colors, crackling fire in the stove, hearty soups and pumpkin pies.
    Hugs,
    JB

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love the difference in the air and sunlight most in fall. Next, of course, is all the autumn colors!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't get all of those wonderful colors here, but I do enjoy the crispness in the air - it's so sharp and invigorating, especially down by the beach in the mornings. And I love the sense of a new start I always feel around this time of year. :)

  41. Autumn isn't really my favorite season (it's my least favorite actually!) but this year I'm coming to terms with it turning fall soon. It's been a less dreadful transition compared to other years :) I think I am getting excited for some decorations for our new house. My parents loved going on drives and hiking to see the fall foliage. I never appreciated it until a couple of years ago. Now my husband and I want to head out to Shenandoah and take it all in. It's truly really beautiful there!

    ReplyDelete
  42. There's something about the cast of light in autumn I rather like. Although, as you mentioned, an adequate description fails me.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love your autumn. I love autumns forceful change once it starts, the yellowing, the drying, the crumbling into small pieces to feed the earth with that which you no longer can use.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love a lot of the same things about autumn! Here in South Carolina, the annoying part is when everything LOOKS like autumn, but the temperature can still be in the low '90s (Farenheit) until almost the beginning of October.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love the cool, crisp mornings and cooler days! That's what we have here this morning, and I love it! Leaves here are not showing much change in color, though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Autumn is my favorite season too. Here in Eastern WA the great heat is beginning to abate, the nights have cooled, and maybe, just maybe we'll get some rain. It's always been an energizing time for me with fresh starts, and more time outdoors. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Spring is my favorite season, but I do enjoy the cooler temperatures. We are in a heat wave here so there isn't a sign of autumn yet.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

    ReplyDelete
  48. I LOVE fall and winter both. Fall has such beauty, as you say. And the air feels different. We don't have that draining humidity, and I just feel more energetic. People have really gotten into decorating for fall, too. And of course, the candy. I just discovered White Chocolate Candy Corn flavored M&Ms. Delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can't just pick one favorite thing! I love EVERYTHING about Autumn! The colors, the smells, the cooling weather, pumpkin-flavored everything...Halloween. I love it all! :D

    ReplyDelete
  50. Autumn is and always will be the most magical, wonderful, season ever, not just for the incredible colours everywhere but have you even smelled a Pine tree of any Evergreen when the season starts, you'll believe in Heaven. And against all Historian research Jesus was not born in winter, Dec 25 is a Pagan Holiday, Jesus was actually born mid-last Fall, how else could we see such delights of colours of essence of pleasure bounty. I Live for Autumn...I know why you love it so...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Autumn is a beautiful time of year. Here in Sweden the air is so clear and sharp - so invigorating and lovely - it's magical!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Autumn is my favourite season as well, Keith, and not just because my birthday is in Autumn (October 27th). I love the changing of the leaves, the cool, brisk winds, the smell of the air, the views of geese heading to warmer climates, the squirrels foraging for food for the winter. I also love coming home on a chilly day and making a nice hot chocolate. You could say that I love Autumn, and you would be right. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. My favorite seasons are spring and fall! My husband has been wanting pumpkin pie so this weekend I think he'll get his wish! I noticed the other day in the garden the scent of the last few roses and the phlox mixed with the goldenrod and fall blooming hostas was delightful. Throw in a bit of those earthy woodland geraniums and a wisp of wood smoke and you have the perfect aroma of fall!

    ReplyDelete
  54. One that strikes is of course the brown and gold when it is through mid-way. it contrasts very much from the previous greenery. Nicely Keith!

    Hank

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think Fall is fabulous too and invigoratingly beautiful .
The crisp air , the gorgeous leaves ...and we have cranberry harvest season here as well this time of year ~ which is usually a beautiful sight to see !

    ReplyDelete
  56. thanks for inspiring me about autumn, it's not my favourite season. I guess early autumn is ok! I do love the colours on the trees.

    ReplyDelete
  57. My feelings of fall are mostly mixed. Mostly because its behavior in Montana is mixed. Sometimes there's virtually no fall...winter comes early and stays late other times it stays hot while yet other times it's beautiful...mostly the leaves here are golden or orange. I'm on a we'll see basis here. Admittedly it's all about attitude.

  58. Hello Keith,

The changing seasons always have something special to offer in our view. Each has its own highlights and it is good to anticipate the coming of the next season, whatever it may be. And, of course, one man's Autumn is another's Spring!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh Autumn......my favorite season too, Keith. The change of color in the leaves and the cooler weather and pumpkin pie is definitely some of the great things about it. There is a place in the mountains called Apple Hill that sells everything apples - apple pie, caramel apples, hot apple cider, and we go every year, and this place always says "Autumn" to me.

Thank you for your post today, and letting me see glorious 'AUTUMN' through your eyes.

    ~Sheri

  60. I agree that fall is wonderful. but then somebody says winter is wonderful and I agree with them too. In fact, I just like the whole year. For fall, it's the aroma.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I like candy corn, salted peanuts, and peanut butter m&ms. I like the idea of dressing up for Halloween. I love pumpkin soup, but my family doesn't. I may just have to force feed them. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love seeing the trees suddenly ablaze with color. I guess we're also savoring the last bit of warmth before winter. Then there's the fall fairs and festivals filled with apple pie, caramel corn, pumpkins.... sigh... I loved it too. However, I do have to say spring is my favorite time of year.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love looking at the trees. The amazing colours and how vibrant it looks...it is sheer magic. Since I have no clue about sports, i only know the Bengals as a band( were they a band or am I thinking something else??)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well, I have to say it's the leaves! Though they have nearly killed me, and have and sent me to the E.R. in an ambulance. I am allergic to fall leaves. So I have never rolled in them, raked them, burned them, or played in them. Wah! BUT at least I can snap and snap them for my blog!! Hey, when is your wedding?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Autumn is my favourite season too Keith.
Slowly she arrives dressed in a variety of golds and reds. Everything is more beautiful in the soft light of Autumn. The chill in the air turns our thoughts to fireside evenings. Enjoy this very special time!

  66. We are indeed entering a most magical season, Keith! I love your descriptions of Nature's beauty...if one only pays attention... :)
I just read all of your posts that I missed...shed a tear or two...great, poignant writing.
So happy for you regarding learning German!
Enjoy the crisp and lovely days...

  67. Autumn doesn't visit us. (Even now it's 90 degrees). If it did it would be my FAVORITE season. I just know it would. It must be beautiful, too, to see the changing leaves.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yes Keith, I sure have done that, but, all seasons are refreshing.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love the colors of fall. Not many trees around here. But the grasses reflect the most beautiful light. Almost like they are lit up. I love the cool crisp dewy mornings. And all the birds look for a meal before they head to their warm zone.

  70. Autumn can be beautiful it can also be damp grey and dreary - but when the sun shines and the leaves turn colour it is jaw droppingly beautiful - I was out in the garden this afternoon and someone had lit a bonfire - the smell of the wood smoke was so reminiscent of autumn - I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Absolutely agree...the colors of autumn are my favorite of all the seasons. Just gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I love Autumn. So very much. I am partial to Spring and Winter too. Summer? Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I love all the things you mentioned. In CA, we don't see as much color as you do; it'd be nice to actually see the change in seasons. You included the most important autumn factor: s'mores. Nice! (It's one of my favorites throughout the year.) Thanks for your always optimistic (yet never overly sappy or insincere) attitude, Keith.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love autumn too - and spring, which it will be soon Down Under. Summer, not so much. Does terrible things to my hair :))

    ReplyDelete
  75. Cool, crisp clean air. Pumpkins. Pretty colored trees against clear blue skies. Chilly morning walks. Bright sunshine. The first snowfall.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Autumn is simply delicious with brilliant colors and crisp air. It tends to be my favorite :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I, too, have always loved the changing colours around me though Autumn at one time made me think of long winters and challenges to get around safely, especially when living in Montreal. The next ten years living in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec provided truly spectacular vistas, with many bright reds that are a bit harder to find in Vancouver. And there, x-country skiing was always something to anticipate with great pleasure. Two things have changed my outlook lately: living in a more temperate climate means it is easy to get around all year long on my bike so there is no longer sadness about restricted access and retirement means being able to spend more time outdoors to truly take in the season's delights.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You paint a lovely picture. I love foraging for free food and unexpected sunshine.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Usually it is the cool down from brutal summers that delights me first about Fall. This yeas however, Summer was really mild. Still I look forward to this season. The air smells cleaner when it is cooler and the colors can outdo even Spring sometimes and even the clothes are neater. I admit to a jacket obsession.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I love the pretty leaves. Bright red and orange are some of my favorite colors! Plus it's cooler out now. Less bugs :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well, my daughter's name is Autumn...so you can guess how I feel about it! :) My favorite aspect of the season is the colorful foliage. Even though we don't have a lot of color change here, I enjoy seeing photos from the East Coast on FB and various sites.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Autumn is also my favourite time of year. I think it is the cool air that I welcome the most and the deep breaths of fresh air.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Have you ever noticed that the air *sounds* different in autumn?

    ReplyDelete
  84. I actually miss that season. The air doesn't really get crisp here, and the leaves might fall toward the heart of winter, but they don't change color. I suppose there are trade offs for never having to shovel snow, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  85. My favorite thing is the leaves. We don't have much of that here. It's still very much summer right now.

    ReplyDelete
  86. For me Fall has always been my favorite time of the year... this year it came a little too quickly for me. The leaves haven't started to fall but when they do, I love walking through piles of crunchy leaves... :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. I love the colors of the trees, local Friday night football games, pumpkin everything, Halloween decorations, and getting ready for the holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I was in Panama in the fall of 1971. Panama is only a few degrees above the equator so there was only varying shades of green there.
My friend who lived in Boston before being drafted, received a care package from his sister and she'd used autumn leaves as packing material.
That evening a half dozen lonely troops gathered near water's edge facing home, and burned autumn leaves on our beach fire. We all sat in silence enjoying the aroma thinking of home.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Where do I start? I love the colors. Especially in New England. We have beautiful colors here in Colorado, but mostly golds. However the weather plays a huge part in when and how long. One year the leaves were beautiful, but blew away in one weekend. I love cooler weather, the crispness in the air. Halloween, pumpkin carving. Sweaters and scarves.
I do not like pumpkin pie. Or pumpkin anything for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Where I live it's been autumn for awhile now and I love it. Best time of year, and I love everything about it.

    ReplyDelete
  91. You forgot about...pumpkin pie blizzards.
I love autumn, especially October. You can sleep with the windows open and don't have to worry about the air conditioning or the heater.
    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Raking the leaves, though? That I could do without.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The heat of summer tapering off is my favorite

    ReplyDelete
  93. I love Summer, Fall, and Spring...all for different reasons. And I have been under the canopy of trees when their leaves are changing colors; you're right that is amazing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love the cooler weather of autumn, especially the cooler nights.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I love the colors of autumn, walking through the woods and kicking leaves. If after autumn spring came again, I think I could savor autumn more! But as it leads to winter, I have mixed feelings.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Not raking leaves for sure. Think I'll let them stay for fertilizer this year.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I loved the changing of the leaves, the dramatic colors of them when we lived in Montana. We don't have much of a fall here now in Southern California, but I do like seeing people decorate their houses for Halloween and the pumpkins in the stores :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. I love natures colors in the Fall and like you the World Series and a little football (Go Broncos)!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Oh My Goodness... SO many things to love about Fall!!!!!! Some of my fav's:
    -colored leaves
-walking with leaves crunching under my feet.
    -the smell of autumn
    -fireplace
    -cooler temps
    -pumpkin ANYTHING (including Pumpkin Coffee)
-I even love raking and blowing leaves (believe it or not)
    -blue blue CLEAR skies
-FOOTBALL (love my TN Vols and TN Titans)
ETC ETC ETC---I just love Autumn....

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  100. I too love this season, the cool crisp air, the changing colors of the leaves ~ What I dread though is the coming winter as its very cold here in Canada ~ Have a good week Keith ~

  101. Hi Keith,

Autumn and Spring are my favourites times of the year -
Enjoy your Autumn days and the lovely changing colours of the leaves and everything that makes it a wonderful season.

  102. Hearing football on tv (don't even have to be watching..just hearing the noise)...color changes..love the browns and golds and oranges....smells--fall has certain smells, just like spring does. Gosh..I could go on and on. Halloween carnivals, pumpkin pie..Sept is the beginning of my favorite time of year and that lasts all the way until the day after Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I love autumn, Keith! So, so many reasons. When I first came to Colorado, I missed the reds and oranges of the leaves back east, but I have come to love our aspen gold, especially against the deep blue of our Colorado skies. I like that it gets cooler too, because the heat gets to me. A walk in a golden aspen forest here is beyond beautiful. Have a good one!

    ReplyDelete
  104. And I wish you the crispiest, most colorful autumn, ever. I love autumn, but I also love spring, winter and summer. Like the mother (that I am) of 4 kids, I can't pick favorites. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  105. well when I was a child my favorite thing about autumn was that it meant my birthday was coming soon!(October)...but now as an adult that is not such a big thrill... it is now definately walks in the woods through fallen leaves, the sounds and smells of nature getting ready for bed, and Thanksgiving prep.

    ReplyDelete
  106. As much as I am a summer girl, I do love the beauty that autumn brings. And yes, the pumpkin pie is a real bonus too! And all that Halloween candy. Oh, shoot. I may just be turning into more of an autumn girl than a summer one ;)

  108. What a beautiful tree! And my husband and son will be cheering the Bengals right along with you!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Fall is one of my favorite season. I am often looking up at the colors of trees and ooohing and awwwing at the colors and light dancing through them. I sometimes stumble! I love the scents, the breezes, the mulled cider on crisp evenings, and crazy about pumpkin pei (using MY recipe, which is the famous Libby's pumpkin pie recipe). I LOVE the season, especially on jaunts with my camera!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yesss!!! I am so excited Fall is almost here. I feel the exact same way you do about Autumn. The colorful tree's are one of my favorite things about Fall. I also love going to the pumpkin patch.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Well the weather is cooler for starters.

    ReplyDelete
  112. The smell of bonfires, the flare of golden light through long grass, the sounds of rooks congregating in the fields, the sight of mist over the meadows, the rich browns of horse chestnuts fresh out of their casing, foraging amongst the hedgerows, lazy shadows lying long across freshly cut lawns...

    ReplyDelete
  113. After ten years of autumn in the northwoods, I've moved to Savannah and am going to have to watch the fall colors in blog posts like yours! I used to always try to do a river trip when the leaves were at their peak.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oh, favorite season! Love the leaves, the cooler weather and the distinct lack of humidity (a summer requirement for living in the south. ugh).

    ReplyDelete
  115. Keith,

I love the freedom of autumn. It allows more pleasant outdoor activities in a moderate climate. Then there is the influence in our writing opportunities. So many colourful words to consider!!
Finally, it means that it is moving ever closer to your most favourite time of the year Keith; Christmas:)

    Eileen

  116. As I read you, I wonder how beautiful and colorful the season of autumn there. The season does not flourish here like the other countries. Glad you enjoying it :)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Such a beautiful time of year. I love the cooler temps. Can't wait to sip on some Pumpkin flavored coffee real soon.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Okay....you know I'm a summer girl, but I love the clothes. hahaha Sweaters, jackets, and boots. :) Does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  119. I love the transition of summer to fall Keith. It reminds me that change is constant and I am grateful for the power and beauty of nature as you describe it. I appreciate thick crusty bread and spicy soup and also my boots!! Happy almost Fall with hugs!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. My favorite season is summer. But I do sometimes feel pressure to "do something fun because it's a nice summer day!" So I like the ease of autumn, less pressure to have fun.

    ReplyDelete
  121. My favorite season! The other is Springtime. I love the smells of the fall season and in the springtime when you can finally open the windows after the hard winter. :) Spring and Fall represent both new as everything blooms and endings as the leaves fall.

    ReplyDelete
  122. It's electric!!
Me too, Keith. I will be heading up to my mountain to stand in the forest and look at all the colors of brilliancy.
I see you have the pleasure of maple tree leaves.
I don't see those as much here but I will enjoy the glow of aspen.
Enjoy your season of pumpkins and goblins, my friend.

  123. I love autumn, too. It's really the best up north when the leaves turn those vibrant colors. I love Halloween, too, and all the baking that begins.

  124. I absolutely love your enthusiasm for life, Keith! You find the joy in everything, every season! Autumn is my favorite season, too. There is something magical about the light this time of year and yes, when it shines through those beautiful turning leaves - you feel like you are in heaven. There is an energy this time of year that is contagious - the crisp air, the wind, the fluttering leaves falling to the ground, the smell of wood smoke, apples....maybe it was because I was born in October - I don't know, but I just love fall. Go Seahawks! xo Karen

  125. Autumm is promising time of year. I love how the leavea turns into lovely colors, the pumpkin flavors and great weather.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yes I have Keith, in answer to your question. The autumnal colours are a beautiful sight. I aso love the sound of the leaves crunching under my feet, and our dogs go bonkers playing in the dried leaves, it's so funny!

  127. In my neck of the woods, the colors don't begin to change until around mid November thru December. But in Colorado when I lived there for 40+ years, I remember watching the aspen trees turn....and the flickering of the golden or reddened leaves dance in the bright sunlight...all against a forest of evergreen and white bark of the aspens. Not to forget the wildflowers that cling on to the warmth of the forest lawn.

Yes, Autumn is a favorite for me too.

Oh, and Go Broncos. lol [I couldn't resist]

  128. Though the cold can get to me, I absolutely LOVE carving pumpkins and roasting the seeds! Yummy!!

  129. Autumn... It reminds me of me and my receding hairline. :(

I love spring. What do you mean, "Next year"?

    ReplyDelete
  130. I tend to underappreciate autumn because I'm so upset about the summer ending. I need posts like this to remind me of all the little charms of the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I love, love, love, the fall too. It's come very early here in the Midwest this year. I'm hoping it lasts a really long time!

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'm more of a summer person but I totally get what you love about autumn. I enjoy its beauty also.. if only it was warmer out. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  133. My favorite thing about autumn is the end of a hot summer and the hope of some much needed rain. Also, it signals the beginning of the perfect time for gardening in our area.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I love the golden evening light. I love the beautiful sunrises and sunsets we get in Autumn. Alas, here the season is all too short, and ushers in a long bitter Winter. For that reason only, it is not my favorite season.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I love autumn. This year it is coming sooner than ever.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I enjoy the vibrant colors when the foliage is at the peak. Yes, I have gone to a mountain and stood in the wonder of the crisp air and sunshine as it shines through the trees..but, I have to say I am a warm weather person..as when autumn fades winter sets in and that I do not enjoy..the ice, cold and snow..NO...

    ReplyDelete
  137. More so than in year's past, I look forward to the change that comes with each season. But, there is something special about Autumn. It's hard to believe that it's right around the corner. : )

    ReplyDelete
  138. Autumn is my favourite season too but it is only after coming to the US I got to experience this beautiful season..i stepped into this soil one october morning...the trees were golden and red..it is poetry...I will never ever forget that experience...

  139. Autumn is my favorite. I think. I love summer, but yes - autumn is my favorite. I love the colors, I love the cozy cooking. But most of all, I love that crisp feeling in the air, and the bright blue sky on autumn mornings. It doesn't stay that way for long (this is Southern California after all) but I love those rare mornings when it happens.

  140. I love all in autumn !is my favorite season:the winds, red leaves, the warm sun (not hot like summer) the quinces, the first chestnuts, I think is lovely!
    xo

  141. I love the colors of autumn ... orange, red and brown :-)

    ReplyDelete
  142. Unpacking warmer clothing, the first open fires and candles, the smell of apples, shuffling through fallen leaves on paths through the woods, fields turning golden and later, after turning, deep and satisfyingly brown.

Relaxing after a frantic summer, windows still open but shut earlier on cosy evenings indoors, TV programmes getting better, fewer repeats, red wine instead of rose, stews instead of grills . . . . .

I really could go on and on.

Perhaps I’ll have to make a list for my own blog.

  143. My favourite thing about it being autumn for you, is that it is spring for me - although I don't really like the hot summers once they arrive!

    Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

  144. My favorite thing about Autumn is walking out the door and feeling the cool(er) air and watching the leaves dropping.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I love autumn! The light feels different and I love the crispness in the air and all the colors... and Halloween...
But this year summer has barely stopped by so I'm not that enthusiastic about autumn right now... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  146. Fall is absolutely my favorite too! I'm seeing more and more stuff at the stores for Fall/Halloween/etc and it makes me so excited. The weather is just a tad bit milder so far but I'll take it! I can't even wait to put on some jeans, boots and a sweater!!!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Fall is my favorite season too! I love the colors and the cool weather and leaf piles. I also love haunted houses/hayrides/mazes.

  148. You are right - Mother Nature's beautiful collage.........

  149. This makes me so sad...I live in California and we have NO SEASONS. It's always just...summer. And while that might sound great, I miss autumn leaves and that refreshing nip in the air.

    ReplyDelete
  150. The best thing about autumn? Rediscovering all of last year's clothes and finding that I still fit in them! :-)

Plus, hey. They seem like "new" clothes...

  151. Yes! My favourite season (well, one of them, the other one is spring) is almost here. Hooray!

    Greetings from London.

  152. I look forward to the cooler weather!

  153. Fall is my favorite season. Great for cycling, running, any exercise---the cool air is refreshing! A great time of the year to enjoy a book along with a fire in the fireplace.

    ReplyDelete
  154. In my area I tend to love the constant overcast sky with little rain
I get the same overcast in the spring but it rains so much
there's something about it how the entire day it seems to be the same time of day all day long like time freezes ever so slightly and it's like ambient lighting because you can't find where the sun is no matter how hard or long you look

    ReplyDelete
  155. i think fall has become my favorite season too-funny it used to be my least favorite--one of the reasons was because i really didn't like all the oranges and yellow but now i adore them :)

    ReplyDelete
  156. I'm not a big Autumn fan because my allergies set in and summer vacation is miles away. I also lost my father in the fall, so I just assume move on.

  157. Hi Keith, I am with you on loving the colorful foliage...also loving that summer's heat will be gone soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  158. I also love the beautiful colors, and crisp cool air of autumn. We've already been enjoying an early autumn here. Lovely photo!

  159. Dear Keith, my favorite autumn thing--and autumn is my favorite season also--is the smell of leaves burning. We don't get that smell in the city any longer because laws ban the burning of leaves. But sometimes, driving in the country the smell will come through an open car window and I will know heaven. Peace.

  160. If only if we had a autumn here in Florida! The weather does get a little cooler, the days spent outside are nice, the sunsets earlier.. I think what I love about autumn is the decorations! The cute scarecrows, the hay, the pumpkins cravings, Thanksgiving - I love it all! I love all the seasons but especially when I can decorate! Although the tree's here down don't change, the leaves do fall so its pretty to bundle them all up or to see them dance along with the wind!

    ReplyDelete
  161. I LOVE Fall! I have a post scheduled for Oct. 1st that describes why October is my absolute favorite month. It's pure awesomeness...and it never lasts long enough!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Autumn! What a wonderful part of life. I love it because then I can wear all my favorite things. Sweaters, jackets, boots, scarves, the whole shebang. I love that it is just cold enough to need those wonderful scarves and boots yet its not freezing yet.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I agree! Autumn is my favourite season as well. There's something about the air, the colours, and maybe something about saying goodbye to another fabulous year :)

    ReplyDelete
  164. I love to walk along the paths with yellow leaves and to toss them up

    ReplyDelete
  165. Happy Birthday Keith... I hope it is a really great day, next year you and Beate should be sharing your birthdays together :)

    ReplyDelete
  166. Normally we would take a trip to NC in the fall, but now that we live here I will truly enjoy fall this year. :) We didn't really have fall in FL.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Autumn is my favorite season too! I love it - the temperatures, the foliage, the pumpkin pie - everything about it. It's a great time for hikes and outdoor activities. Took my grandson to the nearby farm last week to enjoy the giant hay pyramid and other fun things there. And yes, we got a few pumpkins too.
    Happy Birthday! :)

    ReplyDelete
  168. A very happy birthday to you, born on the hinge of fall. Many more together for you and Beate.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Anyone who does not love fall has serious issues LOL... Happy Birthday again :)

    ReplyDelete
  170. A very Happy Birthday to you Keith. : )

    ReplyDelete
  171. THE COLORS! :D ...and the feeling of newness in the air as so many things change (temperature, weather, schedules with school starting etc.). It is similar to New Years, in that there is so much newness that it seems a good time to set new goals and make more positive changes in life. :) I love to fill my life with anything uplifting and good! :D - PS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Keith! :D

  172. I wish we had cornfield mazes, fall festivals and bonfires too where I live. But on the bright side, pumpkin spice latte has found its way to my corner of the world :)

    ReplyDelete
  173. Hi Keith...best of all she loved the fall...and every single thing about it!

    ReplyDelete
  174. Hi Keith, Happy Autumn! It looks like Autumn is already here. I was really disappointed with this summer, we seemed to have more cooler than normal temps. So, it did not feel like much of a summer.. I like fall and the colors but, I hate the winter that follows..

    ReplyDelete
  175. Every year during Autumn my Shug and I take a few days and Stay in a rustic cabin at Brown county state park in Nashville Indiana. We love it. We make reservations a year in advance because it is so crowded. But We are fortunate that we can go during the week. The weekends are so busy. I'm looking forward to going in a couple if weeks. The trees and the colors are amazing.
